Explore Before Settling#
Don't build your first base right next to Spawn.
Spend some time exploring until you find a location you really enjoy.
A good location can make your entire season more enjoyable.
Set a Home Early#
One of the first commands you should use is:
/sethome
Once you've set a home, you can return using:
/home
This can save a long walk if something unexpected happens.
Keep Extra Food#
Running out of food while exploring is one of the easiest ways to get yourself into trouble.
Always carry:
- Cooked food
- Extra blocks
- Torches
- A crafting table
Being prepared makes exploration much safer.
Sleep When You Can#
Sleeping through the night keeps hostile mobs away and helps everyone skip to morning.
If you see players asking others to sleep, consider helping out.
Don't Carry Everything#
Use Chat#
Repeat SMP is a community server.
Don't hesitate to:
- Ask questions
- Say hello
- Share your projects
- Help other players
Most players are happy to assist newcomers.
Respect Other Players#
Always assume that every build belongs to someone.

- Break blocks
- Open storage
- Take items
- Modify another player's build
